In 2015 Roman started to teach our own children and another few who were interested new riding skill and start up techniques. This was mainly due to the possibilities he saw for our little family to enjoy more time on our bikes with the kids keeping up. Over the following weeks and months more and more local kids joined and with the help of Helen Baker, Andrew Spencer-Wright and Jade Bergroth and Craig Kernutt the courses grew from very humble beginnings into something we had never imagined possible. With its ever growing numbers it was a no-brainer to incorporate this Grassroots Program into the Cape Mountain Bike Club. With more coaches coming on board, Paul Hanrahan and Steve Lane, as well volunteering their time to teach the kids in our local community vital skills for a safe ride on their mountain bikes, we have now over 50 kids between 6 and 14 years of age in 3 different courses – Kudos to all the coaches, volunteer parents and behind the scene people, like Dave Tanner and Regina Memleb Vock, these courses would not be possible without your (wo)man-power!
